About the Author
Charldean Newell, a Fort Worth native (Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin), is also the co-author of THE EFFECTIVE LOCAL GOVERNMENT MANAGER (ICMA Press, 2004) and CITY EXECUTIVES (SUNY Press, 1989), and recently edited MANAGING LOCAL GOVERNMENT: CASES IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT EFFECTIVENESS (ICMA Press, 2009). She has received four national awards: honorary lifetime membership in the International City/County Management Association, the Staats Career Public Service Award from the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration, the Donald C. Stone Award in intergovernmental relations from the American Society for Public Administration, and elective membership in the National Academy of Public Administration. Her 37 years at the University of North Texas included awards from students, colleagues, and alumni.

David Prindle (Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology) has published research in the areas of voting and parties, energy policy, the presidency, and the politics of the entertainment media. His first book, PETROLEUM POLITICS AND THE TEXAS RAILROAD COMMISSION, won the V.O. Key, Jr. Award, given by the Southern Political Science Association to the best book on Southern politics. He also has written THE POLITICS OF GLAMOUR: IDEOLOGY AND DEMOCRACY IN THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD and RISKY BUSINESS: THE POLITICAL ECONOMY OF HOLLYWOOD. Professor Prindle is a past recipient of both the Allen Shivers Award for the best teacher in the MIT Department of Government and the Harry Ransom Award for Teaching Excellence, given to the best teacher in the MIT College of Liberal Arts.

James W. Riddlesperger, Jr. (Ph.D., University of Missouri) is Professor of Political Science at Texas Christian University (TCU). A native of Denton, he has taught American politics, with interests in Texas politics, Congress, and the presidency, at TCU since 1982. An award-winning teacher, his publications include the co-edited PRESIDENTIAL LEADERSHIP AND CIVIL RIGHTS POLICY (Greenwood Press, 1995), winner of the Aaron Wildavsky book award. A frequent consultant to the news media concerning politics and elections, he also serves as a question leader and a faculty consultant to the College Board's AP U.S. Government exam.

This book is very politically biased. Political claims are often not supported by supportive references and thus is not a peer reviewed or a validated textbook, which is very disappointing academically.

About the Author
Kathy Cennamo is a former elementary school teacher and is currently Professor of Instructional Design and Technology at Virginia Tech. She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Virginia Tech, a master's degree in educational media from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. in instruction technology from the University of Texas at Austin. Throughout her career, Cennamo's work has focused on the application of learning theories to the design of technology-based instructional materials. Through numerous funded projects, publications, presentations, instructional materials, and teaching activities, she has disseminated knowledge of instructional strategies based on established theories of learning. She has also explored the nature of instructional design practice so that scholars and designers alike better understand their work, and she has applied this knowledge in helping to prepare future instructional design professionals. Her research and service activities have focused on developing and sustaining a classroom culture that fosters critical and creative thinking skills in K-12 and higher education environments.

Debby Kalk is principal of Cortex Learning, an instructional design and e-learning consulting company. She has developed e-learning products for major educational publishers for use in secondary and higher education, as well as corporate training and customer education projects for companies such as Motorola, Delta Air Lines, and Lucent Technologies. Her projects have garnered recognition from ID magazine, NY Festivals, Cindys, ITVA, TIM, and other awards. Kalk holds a M.A. in Instructional Technology from University of Texas at Austin.

Other books I've seen are much more academic and less practical. It doesn't get more real-world practical than this.

I love the way this book is set up

I love the way this book is set up, Starting from chapter 1 Explaining the history of essential oils and how they are produced, and how to choose the right essential oils. And then a chapter on 25 must have oils and their usage and benefits, I found this section very educational. Then there is a chapter on everyday recipes for emergencies, and the recipes are broke down into age groups so there is no guess work on how many drops, this I found very helpful. Then a chapter on how to make your own cleaning products with detailed recipes and there is even a shopping checklist to help you get started. A chapter on personal beauty care recipes. Chapter on Moods, diffuser recipes and how to make them into roller bottle blends, again this is great no guess work. Chapter on self care rituals from morning to evening using essential oils in water, smoothies, shower and bath blends. Last chapter on women's hormone health from stress management, energy,weight management, sleep, intimacy,to menopause, all with detailed recipes. This book from start to finish is great it is for anyone from beginner to long time user of essential oils. Love This Book ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yes. Get this one.

This book is IT! I'm a mom to a 2 & 3yr old and love using my essential oils, but sometimes feel less than confident with recipes and what is/isn't safe. Unfortunately, this generally leads me to being fearful of using my oils on them.

Fear no more! This book is FULL of recipes (dilution amounts noted for different ages!!! WOOHOO!) that cover ALL my needs with my kiddos! It is so easy to read - there's a bit of science in the beginning, but 2/3 of the book read kinda like a recipe book with various options listed in an easy to read format. It has recipes for kiddos/babies - but for me too! Beauty, bath, cleaning... it's all encompassing for removing gross and harmful chemicals from our family!

I have a billion different EO books, but this one is definitely going to be my GO-TO. Thank you Dr. Mariza for finally making an EO book for us mamas! We are in charge of our homes and this gives confidence on using effective natural solutions. YAY!!!

Very Timely and Absolutely Accessible!

LOVE this book! So happy to see how absolutely accessible this is written! Brilliant layout too! This book is just like a gift. No matter where you open it you are going to find a surprise inside! Essential oils and fun, do go in the same sentence! I'm especially interested in the emotional aspect of essential oils for kids as well as adults. I'm also interested in removing toxins from my environment and body. Love the recipes and want to try them all! If you happen to have a certain non typical biological difference in your brain and don't like reading from front cover to back….have no fear. This isn't a book you will lose your place in! When I said accessible, I meant it! Dr. Mariza didn't miss a beat when writing this really amazing little book! Even if you didn't know much about essential oils when the book first arrived and maybe just had a curiosity type interest….by the time you go through this book with so much amazing information you will be intrigued and fascinated! Curiosity surpassed! I'm keeping it with me to reference and I'm sure I will be getting many more copies and passing it on to friends…..even ones I haven't even met yet!:)
