Lorraine Heath always dreamed of being a writer. Fantastic!

Wow! This is the first time in a long time that I absolutely COULD NOT see how in the world the characters were going to have a Happy Ever After! How Lorraine pulled it off was nothing less than fantastic. I thought they were going to have to run off to the Americas or something but...he was an Earl with responsibilities so he couldn't! Throughout the whole book I was worried about secrets being revealed and then even after they were, I couldn't see how they could be together. Then, voila! It'd been there all along, but in no way I expected. I've read a LOT of great Romances, but this one takes the cake for being UNPREDICTABLE. Well done, Ms. Heath. Can't wait for your next one!

Unique Plot - a Stand Out Among Historical Romance

As a romance novel, you can't help but know how the plot ends - they must end up happily ever after, right? Enter in the historical context of British law the prevents a man from marrying his brother's widow, creating an obstacle that the plot has to twist and turn around for the length of the book. I thought this was an excellent story, with well-developed characters that were easy to sympathize with, and are both likable yet very human. Highly recommend this book if you're looking for a departure from your typical historical romance plot line, with an ending that will literally (finally!) keep you guessing until the very end.
