While the text provides an informative stance on ELL education for teachers without a base knowledge, the text is repetitive with its statistics and facts, and presents little methodology to support the claims. This book would be a better read for a pre-service teacher who has not taken any courses on ELL instruction or an administrator who is trying to incorporate ELL instruction into professional development.

This book contained interesting information on different cultural groups. Although one should be careful not to overgeneralize, the information was presented in a way that helped me know what I should get to know about my culturally and linguistically diverse students.
