A Must Read for Anyone Involved in K12 Curriculum Decisions!

Code in Every Class came at a perfect time for my coding exploration. The book is an excellent guide for any educator who is looking to incorporate coding into their class. For those who are where I was a year or two ago, and don't really understand why we all need a basic understanding of coding, the book will definitely paint a very clear picture for you. For those who already get it and just need help getting started themselves, the book will give you many suggestions for breaking into the world of programming for both yourself and with your students. If you're someone who has already been doing some basic coding activities with your students, the book provides a TON of lesson plans and resources to help you continue to further your practice. I found the lesson plans the most helpful in understanding what everyone was saying in Twitter chats I had participated in about coding being great for a number of curriculum topics in many different content areas.
The book truly is a great resource for educators at any skill level and mindset about coding; it will convince those who are skeptical and enrich those who have already begun. I would highly recommend the book to every classroom teacher, administrator, anyone involved in K12 curriculum decisions, and to parents with children in school. Whenever I can grab some time, I plan to hop onto some of the sites provided in the resources in this book, and put some of this into practice myself!

You need this book !

This book is exactly what I needed ! My ultimate goal is to bring coding to all students at my middle school, but I just didn't know how or where to start. Kevin & Ria share the step by step shift they took into introducing programming into their classrooms. I really appreciate this as a former Language Arts teacher because it really drives home the point that you don't have to be a coding wizard to introduce it to your students... You have to be ready and willing to learn alongside your students as they take the lead. Peppered with classroom anecdotes, tips for getting admins on board, and valuable career statistics regarding the need for computer programmers, this book discusses how coding can be a positive agent for change. LOVE the plethora of lesson ideas, online resources, and the "Playground Coder" starter lesson ! A must-have book for ANY teacher !

Fully Embed Coding at all Levels!

Code in Every Class is a great resource if you're getting your students to start and then continue with their learning how to code. Our school district has (over the past 2 years) been participating in Hour of Code, which has pretty much turned into 'School Year of Code' over the last year. Kids are clamoring to learn more about the first steps to creating the solution to solve a wide variety of problems. Engaging and and informative, Code in Every Class hits the sweet spot in readability for all educators at varying levels to implement and embed coding into their curriculum.
