Great for kids and adults

I enjoyed this book a lot, and I'm well over the suggested age range. I've read many of Watson's books to my 7-year-old son, who's under the suggested age range, and we've both gotten hooked on them. I like the character bits and dialogue; he likes the fight scenes!

This one is divided into 4 sections, each focusing on a different generation of Jedi. The first is about Dooku as a Padawan, the second is about Dooku as a Knight with Qui-Gon as his Padawan, the third covers Qui-Gon as master with Obi-Wan as his Padawan, and the fourth is set in the early stages of the Clone Wars with Obi-Wan and Anakin. Linking them all together is a character who appears in all four sections, a onetime friend of Dooku's named Lorian Nod who has several run-ins with the Jedi.

Watson is a master of characterization and what I enjoyed most about this book was getting to see what Dooku was like at age 13, what he was like later on as Qui-Gon's master, and some of the events that shaped his life. Even more fun was seeing a young Qui-Gon and the early manifestations of his reserve, his rebellious nature and his compassionate desire to help beings whom no one else will help. One gets a sense of how difficult it must have been for Qui-Gon to have been Dooku's apprentice, given Qui-Gon's strong living force connection and Dooku's almost total lack of empathy for other beings.

Part four was a mixed bag for me. I loved the scene where Obi-Wan was rude to Lorian Nod in the Jedi Council room. It's such unusual behavior for Obi-Wan, and yet it was completely in character. But the ending of the book kind of fizzled out for me; I was expecting a bigger payoff out of the redemption storyline and the ending felt rushed somehow.

But overall, this is a very fun and thought-provoking book. You have four generations of important Jedi from the movies, two of which will never stray from the Jedi path, and two of which will ultimately betray the Order and become Sith. If you are thoughtful about this sort of thing you can wonder, did events concerned with Lorian Nod cause Dooku to fall, or was he doomed to fall because he could never control his pride or even see it as a fault? And similarly, did Anakin fall because of the events in his life, or because Obi-Wan failed him, or because of inherent and unchangeable personality traits? The book doesn't answer these questions but it gives the reader plenty to think about.

Cheers for Legacy

When reading the SW books that Jude Watson writes I can't help but wonder why she isn't writing adult novels too. Her "children's" novel are often smarter, wittier, funnier, and alot better read then most of the other author's books in the EU. This is definitely the case with Legacy of The Jedi.
Legacy is separated in to four different section but weave into each other to create something magical. In the first part we learn of Dooku as a padawan and his friend Lorian. Next we get a look into Qui-Gon Jinn's apprenticeship with Dooku were they encounter Lorian once more. The third story centers around Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan and another mishap with Lorian. Finally we get a story about Obi-Wan and Anakin during the beginning of the Clone War that also involves Lorian, now an old man. While each story is separated they bounce off each other and blend into one big story.
In this book we get a glimpse at Dooku's beginning and a peak at his fall. The reader also get a look at the different relationship between Master and Padawan. From the distance with Dooku and Jinn, to the close bonds of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, to finally the widening gaps of Obi-Wan and Anakin. It's very interesting to see the different approaches the Master each take and how different each Padawan is from the other.I especially like the part centering around Qui-Gon when he was a Padawan. I wouldn't mind seeing a series revolving around his and Dooku's relationship in the future or perhaps a sequel type book to this where we once again get all four generations.
This book is a bit steep in price but reading wise it will entertain and make you wish it was a great deal longer.

Legacy of the Jedi- The best StarWars book ever made.

Even though this book, and many other books written by Jude Watson are "for ages 9-12", the depth of emotions and the touching stories portrayed in these books are superior. For ages 9-100, I say!
I am a 15 year old girl and I own all of the StarWars books, from The Rising Force (Jedi Apprentice #1) to the eighth book in the Jedi Quest series. I'm not a Sci-fi freak, but I love these books because they are so well written, and they teach important values, dealing with friendship, working through adversity, and even romance. These books are for everyone, boy or girl, man or woman.
Legacy of the Jedi was brilliant. It linked the different generations of Jedi (Yoda and Dooku, Dooku and Qui-Gon, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, and Obi-wan and Anakin)as if they were seperate little books in one. Jude Watson provided excellent coherence in the book by linking all of the relationships together with each master-padawan team battling a common enemy.
Each team has a weakness that they have to work through. Each team is different. It is amazing to see what Dooku was like as a boy, and what made him become Count Dooku. It was also good to see what Qui-Gon was like before he became the logical, perfect master.
This book is definatly recomended!! If you like this book, read Jedi Apprentice Special Edition 1&2- they're awesome!

A Classic on Covenant Theology

I'm giving this book 5 stars even though I do not agree with everything that Robertson puts forth here. This book has been on the market for nearly 25 years now, and it remains a standard resource addressing covenant theology that scholars across the theological spectrum still interact with today.
Robertson's book was, and is, a distinctive contribution to covenant theology. Unlike some of his contemporaries like the great John Murray, Robertson appears to argue for the conditionality (to varying degrees) of each Biblical covenant, rather than trying to determine which covenants were allegedly conditional versus unconditional. However, where certain contemporary covenant theologians stress covenants in the context of the Kingdom of God, Robertson stresses covenants in the context of human redemption. The reader should therefore understand that Robertson's version of covenant theology, while having many similarities with virtually all forms of conservative Reformed covenant theology, is not the only version that has been proposed and argued for.
The book does show its age in spots. His chapter interacting with dispensationalism was spot on 25 years ago, but not now. The progressive dispensational movement of today does not look a whole lot like the dispensationalism that Robertson interacts with here. But more importantly for Reformed readers, Robertson's emphasis on covenants that are not explicitly mentioned in Scripture is a feature that is also on the wane in today's covenantal circles. Robertson forcefully argues for the 'covenant of works/covenant of grace with Adam' structure that is outstanding in my view, but is a feature of covenant theology that's becoming less and less stressed today. He properly stays away from presenting eternal divine decrees within the godhead as covenantal.
One of the central themes of this book is that covenants are far more unified than diverse, demonstrating continuity rather than discontinuity. In many ways, this has been the central issue of debate surrounding Biblical covenants. Robertson's emphatic stress on the unity of the covenants is still a staple of covenant theology, though greater discontinuity is being allowed in covenant circles today in ways that Robertson does not leave room for here. I happen to think that Robertson's presentation, while undoubtedly highly systemic and therefore susceptible to flattening the Bible and minimizing its diversity, is nonetheless very good and mostly correct. His contention that Jesus Christ is the comprehensive fulfillment of all Biblical covenants and that the New Covenant that He inaugurated is the final covenant is an essential aspect of covenant theology that puts each Biblical covenant into a distinctly Christological context.
In summary, any investigation of the merits of covenant theology must include a perusal of this book. Whatever disagreements I may have on the edges, I think Robertson has given us a lasting contribution in this area that has become the starting point for most formulations of covenant theology in the years following its publication. A crucial contribution worthy of purchase.

A return to the covenant

In "Christ of the Covenants", O. Palmer Robertson treats a subject which is often lost on today's broadly evangelical church - the Covenant of Grace, by which God has saved and will save His people.
This is not a "light" book, but a treatment of the theology of the Covenant which is accessible to most, nonetheless. It is not terribly scholarly, but does take a more academic tack on the subject than most books. Given this caveat, this is a tremendous resource for those who wish to convey this subject to small group or other audiences within the church.
In this book, Robertson traces the development of God's covenantal dealings with humanity - through the various administrations connected with Abraham, Moses, David and Christ. Each administration, Robertson emphasizes with great aplomb, is not indicative of different covenants (with different requirements, or rewards, as some segments of the church teach), but in fact different reflections of the same Covenant of Redemption that finds its highest fulfillment in Christ and the New Covenant.
This work was truly a joy to read, and a refreshingly intense study of a very important subject. Again, I would recommend this to any pastor, elder, or lay teacher who wishes to take up the subject of Covenant theology in their church or home bible study group.

Good Book on the Covenants from a Reformed Perspective

Anyone interested in understanding the Biblical covenants from a Reformed standpoint should read this book. Robertson does a good job outlining the major covenants (the Covenant of Creation or Works, the Adamic Covenant, the Noahic Covenant, the Abrahamic Covenant, the Mosaic Covenant, the Davidic Covenant, and the Covenant of Consummation or New Covenant). In the first section, Robertson gives us an indepth treatment of the meaning and extent of a covenant using Biblical references and historical examples. In the second section, he gives us an outline of the Covenant of Creation (or Covenant of Works). The third section deals with all of the redemptive covenants after the fall of man. Roberton's main thesis is that all of the redemptive covenants are interrelated and are not separate entities. That there is a gradual progression and advancement in God's redemptive plan with each succeeding covenant. Particularly good was his last chapter dealing with the Covenant of Consummation (or New Covenant). He emphasizes that the New Covenant is both continuous and discontinuous from the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant being a covenant of condemnation because of continued disobedience among the Israelities; the New Covenant being a covenant of life because of the indwelling of the Spirit among God's people. I especially liked Robertson's irenic and humble tone. I was very appreciative about the fact that he did not try to label dispensationalists as "heretics" or "unorthodox." On pages 201-2, he states that "it should not be forgotten that covenant theologians and dispensationalists stand side by side in affirming the essentials of the Christian faith. Very often these two groups within Christendom stand alone in opposition to the inroads of modernism, neo-evangelicalism, and emotionalism. Covenant theologians and dispensationalists should hold in highest regard the scholarly and evangelical productivity of one another. It may be hoped that continuing interchange may be based on love and respect." This kind of attitude is refreshing in contrast to many Reformed fanatics who label anyone outside their tradition as heretics. Perhaps many scholars from the same tradition as the author can learn what it means to be irenic. The only problem I have with the book is that it doesn't contain an author and subject index.

Excellent Reading

I started reading not knowing what to expect. I am new to the industry and the broker I am working for follows the Kellar-Williams philosophy to a T. I love the corporate structure and the progression that one can follow in this book. It is a fast, easy read and most helpful. While I have plenty of years in sales, for fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies and major universities, I can see how this would be a new venture for me. As a beginner, I feel it is a great way to be introduced to the field of Real Estate. I highly recommend it, especially to those who have been in sales in another field.

Informative but a little long winded

If you are just starting out in Real Estate this is not the book for you. Careful it does read like a work book and the author gets a little long winded when he is talking about something off subject. Plenty of useful knowledge for new agents and would suggest you read after being in the industry a few months or in tandem with coaching.

After graduating from my real estate class and obtaining my NYS license, I read the The Millionaire Real Estate Agent. The book is packed full of helpful advice without being condescending. It shares successes and failures and reminds you that its up to you to succeed in the business and that there is no one to blame but yourself.
